Burr...today would have been a good day for a scarf.

The weather has been making a fool of me since October began. A few times already I have been caught wearing a hat and jacket when it is 75°. Today I've been duped once more, stuck in flip-flops when, like I said, a scarf would have been nice.

The cooler weather seems to pull me back into the kitchen. My love affair with cookies was rekindled this week upon discovering a recipe for chocolate chip cereal cookies. [The chocolate chips, and sometimes craisins, are my addition because, really, what is a cookie without chocolate chips.] And, during a recent trip to the grocery store, I was reunited with the colors and flavors of Fall.


I spent a good part of the day yesterday stewing and baking and enjoying the heat off the oven. My roommates particularly enjoyed the Sweet Potato Pie.


It paired perfectly with the delicious Apple Pie baked by Cheryl and Val L. and graciously shared by Scott. It felt, and tasted, like Thanksgiving dessert!

As I get more creative with my kitchen concoctions, I'll share the recipes. I know a chocolate chip walnut pumpkin cake is in my near future!
